God Speaks
92 A psalm. A song to be sung on the Sabbath Day.
1 It is good to give thanks to the Lord,
to sing praises to the Most High.
2 It is good to proclaim your unfailing love in the morning,
your faithfulness in the evening,
3 accompanied by a ten-stringed instrument, a harp,
and the melody of a lyre.
4 You thrill me, Lord, with all you have done for me!
I sing for joy because of what you have done.
5 O Lord, what great works you do!
And how deep are your thoughts.
6 Only a simpleton would not know,
and only a fool would not understand this:
7 Though the wicked sprout like weeds
and evildoers flourish,
they will be destroyed forever.
8 But you, O Lord, will be exalted forever.
9 Your enemies, Lord, will surely perish;
all evildoers will be scattered.
10 But you have made me as strong as a wild ox.
You have anointed me with the finest oil.
11 My eyes have seen the downfall of my enemies;
my ears have heard the defeat of my wicked opponents.
12 But the godly will flourish like palm trees
and grow strong like the cedars of Lebanon.
13 For they are transplanted to the Lord’s own house.
They flourish in the courts of our God.
14 Even in old age they will still produce fruit;
they will remain vital and green.
15 They will declare, “The Lord is just!
He is my rock!
There is no evil in him!”
931 The Lord is king! He is robed in majesty.
Indeed, the Lord is robed in majesty and armed with strength.
The world stands firm
and cannot be shaken.
2 Your throne, O Lord, has stood from time immemorial.
You yourself are from the everlasting past.
3 The floods have risen up, O Lord.
The floods have roared like thunder;
the floods have lifted their pounding waves.
4 But mightier than the violent raging of the seas,
mightier than the breakers on the shore—
the Lord above is mightier than these!
5 Your royal laws cannot be changed.
Your reign, O Lord, is holy forever and ever.

We Respond
Reflection: Psalm 92 and Psalm 93 extol the LORD God and the people who are aligned with Him and His laws; however, people who have aligned themselves against God and His ways, making themselves His enemies, will perish and be eternally destroyed.
Prayer: Dear LORD God, I join with others of Your people around the world to acclaim, by praise and thanksgiving, Your mercy (in Hebrew: checed) and Your truth. May we do this morning, evening, and all day long. May it remind us of the reason and result of the death of the Lamb of God. You, Lord Jesus, suffered and died to take away all our sins. Then, Father God raised You from the dead, proving as You said, “It is finished.” Thank You, that You sent that same Holy Spirit to indwell those who turn to You in trust and obedience. I am thrilled by all You have done for us. I can never thank You enough. Even the most mentally, physically, or financially disadvantaged among us can understand this and experience the benefits of being adopted by You, the Creator of the universe. The people You adopt and who live in vital, life-giving relationship with You will flourish, produce fruit (even in old age), and not be hindered by evil. But those who deliberately oppose You and Your ways, no matter how well educated, highly socially positioned or financially endowed, will see their schemes detected and defeated, their hopes destroyed, and their forces scattered. You are the King Eternal robed in majesty. Your throne, O LORD has stood throughout the ages. Even the most powerful seas and forces of nature cannot stand against You, Almighty God. The holy and righteous laws of Your kingdom cannot be overturned and will stand forever and ever. AMEN
Action: (Ask God, the Holy Spirit, if He wants you to work on one of the suggestions below or something else more personal that He points out.)
- I will use Psalms 92 and 93 to extol the LORD God Almighty in prayer privately or with others in a church setting.
- I will acknowledge and apologize for the ways in which I have opposed God and His ways, seeking His forgiveness.
- I will research what the Bible says God is like and seek a vital interactive relationship with Him.
- I will talk with a family member, friend, or stranger about what I found.
