We Respond
Reflection.
Consider the following questions regarding Genesis 41-42
> 1. What does this chapter tell me about God?
> 2. What does this chapter tell me about the human beings He created?
Here is one possible answer to each of these questions. Ask the Holy Spirit if there are any others for you personally to ponder.
Genesis 41
1. God sometimes reveals His plans and purposes even to unbelievers.
2. People need to look to God their Creator for solutions to their problems.
Genesis 42
1. God may choose to use dire circumstances to get people to face their sins.
2. People, like Joseph, need God’s discernment when dealing with those who have sinned against them.
Prayer
> 3. How might I pray regarding Genesis 41-42?
Dear Sovereign LORD, thank You for being sovereign over our dreams. Even our nightmares and satanic interference must pass through Your loving hand of permission (see Job 1:1-2:10). You used Pharaoh’s dreams to warn the Egyptians of the impending famine, enabling thousands, if not millions, of lives to be spared. This was all because he listened to, trusted, and obeyed You. Thank You that he did so. LORD God, please continue to raise up Your empowered people to influence the course of this nation and world. We are facing a famine of righteousness and reliance on You. It’s not about us, LORD; it’s all about You. Please raise up people yielded to You and Your values that will turn this nation and world to honoring, trusting and obeying You. Show us practical and workable ways to do this. Despite the personal cost, please use me to bless my community, state and nation. Along with Jesus, I agonizingly pray, “Father, not my will but Yours be done.” Please use me in whatever way You know is best to bring many people into Your eternal family and kingdom. For the glory of Your grace. AMEN
Action (Ask God, the Holy Spirit, if He wants you to work on one of the suggestions below or something else more personal that He points out.)
> 4. What action does the LORD want me to take in response to Genesis 41-42?
With the help of God’s Holy Spirit:
- I will seek to honor God by being diligent and exhibiting a good, helpful attitude in all I do at work, at home, or at school.
- I will try to remember my dreams and write them down as soon as I wake up.
- I will discuss with God what He wants me to do in regard to the dreams I have.
- I will examine my life and humbly submit myself to my loving Heavenly Father for His good purposes for my life.
