We Respond

Reflection.

Consider the following questions regarding Exodus 39-40

> 1. What does this chapter tell me about God?

> 2. What does this chapter tell me about the human beings He created?

Here is one possible answer to each of these questions. Ask the Holy Spirit if there are any others for you personally to ponder.

Exodus 39

    1. God gives His people very specific instructions that He expects them to follow.

    2. The people under Moses’ leadership did “just as the LORD commanded Moses.”

Exodus 40

    1. Although we cannot see Him directly, the LORD God has ways of expressing His presence and glory (i.e. cloud and fire).

    2. People need to be diligent in their work, whatever they do, in order to bring glory to the LORD.

Prayer

> 3. How might I pray regarding Exodus 39-40?

Dear Great and Awesome God, creator and designer of the universe, thank You for the ancient earthly tabernacle that represents the original “House of God” which is in Heaven. Thank You that the clothing of the High Priest and other priests was designed to point people to You as were all of the elements of the tabernacle. May the Christians I know work together to complete the tasks You have assigned to Your faithful followers. May we represent You well through the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. May Your glory and presence shine through all that Your people do and say so that other people will see our “good works” and “glorify our “Father which is in Heaven.” Thus, we will bring You glory, LORD. AMEN

Action: (Ask God, the Holy Spirit, if He wants you to work on one of the suggestions below or something else more personal that He points out.)

> 4. What action does the LORD want me to take in response to Exodus 39-40?

  • I will read a passage from the Bible to determine God’s instructions for me today.
  • I will study about the armor of God, the garments God has for the followers of Christ today.
  • I will diligently work to complete a project God has indicated I should do.
  • I will ask God to reveal His glory and presence in my life.
