We Respond
Reflection.
Consider the following questions regarding Numbers 3-4
> 1. What does this chapter tell me about God?
> 2. What does this chapter tell me about the human beings He created?
Here is one possible answer to each of these questions. Ask the Holy Spirit if there are any others for you personally to ponder.
Numbers 3-4 is addressed as a unit.
1. God is a God of order who is to be respected and obeyed.
2. Specific people are to faithfully perform specific tasks as assigned by leaders who are following God.
Prayer: Dear LORD God, You are a God of order, to be respected and obeyed. You first brought order out of chaos at creation and called forth light to overcome darkness. In these chapters in Numbers, I see You assigning specific people to perform specific tasks regarding the tabernacle (the tent You designed) in which to express Your presence among Your chosen people. Please help me to appreciate the privilege of serving You in the ways You choose. Holy Spirit, I trust You to aid me in carrying out God’s plan for my life. I know that doing so will bring me ultimate joy and glory to You, LORD. AMEN
Action (Ask God, the Holy Spirit, if He wants you to work on one of the suggestions below or something else more personal that He points out.) What action does the LORD want me to take in response to Numbers 3-4? With the help of God’s Holy Spirit:
- I will ask the leaders of my congregation what task they want me to perform for the good of all.
- I will study God’s word to determine what He expects of me. [Micah 5:8 for a start]
- I will cheerfully give to the operating costs of my local congregation.
- I will pray daily for the Good News of Jesus Christ to be carried well, locally, and around the world.
