We Respond

Reflection: Consider the following questions regarding Joshua 12-15:

1. What does this chapter tell me about God?

2. What does this chapter tell me about the human beings He created?

Here is one possible answer to each of these questions. Ask the Holy Spirit if there are any others for you personally to ponder.

Joshua 12

1. God is the One who gives victory and rewards those who obediently follow Him.

2. People need to reverently cooperate with God to be successful in whatever they do.

Joshua 13

1. The LORD God of Israel is to be the ultimate inheritance of all who place their trust in Christ Jesus.

2. People generally focus more on what they can perceive with their five senses than what is invisible and eternal.

Joshua 14

1. It is the LORD God Himself and cooperating with Him and His directions that gives us true peace and rest from our enemies.

2. People like Caleb who follow God’s instructions generally lead long and vigorous lives.

Joshua 15

1. God, like Caleb, is a good Father who gives His children what they need, when they ask. He also has recorded the detailed geography of the tribal allotments of villages and their pasture lands so these facts of history can be proven.

2. God’s people need to complete the assignments He has given them; otherwise, they will have troubles instead of the full blessings He has for them.

Prayer:

3. How might I pray regarding Joshua 12-15?

Thank You, LORD God, that You watch over Your children whether we are young or old. You know the parameters of each of our lives. Please help me to assess what is incomplete in my life and to both make and carry out a plan to correct the problem. Help me to depend on You, not on just my own ideas and strength. Holy Spirit please help me to follow You precisely, completely, and wholeheartedly. Please bless my descendants with victory, prosperity, and peace as they follow You wholeheartedly as well. May all we do be for the good of those around us and ourselves and for Your glory, LORD. Dear LORD God, I declare that You are my good Father in Heaven. You are also my Commander and Provider. You supply not only my provisions and weapons to fight the battles You assign, but also the strength and wisdom to carry out the mission. Thank You. I acknowledge that I can’t fight these battles alone. I need to stay in constant communication with You and to join with other warriors to see the mission accomplished. It will take each and every cell (person) in the body of Christ to be alert, clean, and healthy to see the massive evil brewing in the world today defeated by You, our Great God, and by the work of Jesus on the cross. Wake us up, clean us up, and energize us to do Your will. Help us to continue the rescue mission Jesus started to search for the lost lambs, set them free from the enemy’s cruel grip, reclaim the territory (lives) he has stolen and bring them home to You. Then we will bring You the glory that You so deserve, LORD. AMEN

Action: (Ask God, the Holy Spirit, if He wants you to work on one of the suggestions below or something else more personal that He points out.)

4. What action does the LORD want me to take in response to Joshua 13-14? With the help of God’s Holy Spirit:

  • I will depend on God to drive out my enemies before me as I follow all His instructions.
  • I will take time daily to ask God what His goals or objectives are for me.
  • I will determine to complete the daily assignments God, my Heavenly Father, gives me, asking for clarification as needed.
  • I will trust the LORD to supply everything I need to complete the assignments as given.
  • I will give God credit for my successes and bring my failures to Him.
