God Speaks
The Various Tribes Were Rexponsible for Securing the Boundaries and Towns Given to Them by the LORD.
Verse of the Day: [Whenever we are discouraged or hesitant to accomplish tasks the LORD has assigned us, we should remember and apply this advice Joshua gave to the Israelites.] “. . . though the Canaanites have chariots fitted with iron and though they are strong, you can drive them out. . . . How long will you wait before you begin to take possession of the land that the LORD, the God of your ancesters has given you?” (Joshua 17:18 and 18:3 NIV 2011)

We Respond
Reflection
Consider the following questions regarding Joshua 16-18
> 1. What does this chapter tell me about God?
> 2. What does this chapter tell me about the human beings He created?
Here is one possible answer to each of these questions. Ask the Holy Spirit if there are any others for you personally to ponder.
Joshua 16-18 [Since all of these chapters cover the same topic–the division of the promised land specifically for the tribes of Joseph (Ephraim and Manasseh–East and West) and Benjamin, they will be treated as a unit.]
1. God impartially superintends into which families we are born and where we live.
2. People need to know what their boundaries are–physically, socially, emotionally and spiritually.
Prayer
> 3. How might I pray regarding Joshua 16-18?
Dear Sovereign LORD, thank You for all that You have blessed me with in my life. Thank You for whatever plans You have for my future. I know that whatever You have planned will be best because that’s who You are. Please help me to trust and obey You so that I fulfill all that You desire. Help me to reach out to other people and help them to experience a growing, intimate love relationship with You which is what You want with all people. Thank You that You give people a fresh start in a new land (life) if we will do as You say. Help us to stay within the borders that You have set for our lives. If we do, You will bless us, and we will thrive and bring You glory, LORD. AMEN
Action
(Ask God, the Holy Spirit, if He wants you to work on one of the suggestions below or something else more personal that He points out.)
> 4. What action does the LORD want me to take in response to Joshua 16-18?
With the help of God’s Holy Spirit:
I will work to see that women and girls I know experience their God-given rights like Zelophehad’s daughters.
I will pray for the nation of Israel for God’s will to be established in and through them.
I will research the title and boundaries of my property and/or help someone else to do so.
I will help a friend who is settling into a new home.
