We Respond

Reflection.

Consider the following questions regarding Exodus 25-27

> 1. What does this chapter tell me about God?

> 2. What does this chapter tell me about the human beings He created?

Here is one possible answer to each of these questions. Ask the Holy Spirit if there are any others for you personally to ponder.

Exodus 25

    1. The LORD God is the only God who communicates with and wants to dwell among His people.

    2. People do not have to struggle to figure out how the LORD wants to be worshiped or served. They just need to read the Bible or ask Him.

Exodus 26

    1. God gave the Israelites very specific directions for constructing the tabernacle and its furnishings. He is a God of beauty and precision,

    2. It took many people with various skills and abilities working together to construct the tabernacle–their mobile worship center for the LORD.

Exodus 27

    1. The LORD God makes provision (the altar) for forgiveness, dedication, thanksgiving and worship. He is a God of light as exemplified by the lampstand and the oil.

    2. The Israelites were to keep the ordinances of God for generations to come.

Prayer

> 3. How might I pray regarding Exodus 25-27?

Dear LORD God, thank You for choosing to use me to build a sanctuary for you to dwell in wherever You lead me. May I give back to You the best of what You have given me. May my inner being be a place where You feel at home. May the fragrance of Your presence be disseminated in me and out to bless others. May I joyfully follow Your directions exactly as You have laid them out in Your Word. May I light the way for others to follow You. LORD God, You desire excellence in workmanship. You have given us all that we need to accomplish the tasks You have for each of us. Help me (us) to listen to and follow Your instructions carefully. Help me to have a soft heart toward You and/or other people, but a hard heart toward wrong or evil.May the beauty in my life reflect Your glory, LORD. AMEN

Action (Ask God, the Holy Spirit, if He wants you to work on one of the suggestions below or something else more personal that He points out.)

> 4. What action does the LORD want me to take in response to Exodus 25-27? With the help of God’s Holy Spirit:

  • I will willingly give to God what He asks of me for the sake of building His kingdom.
  • I will work with my faith community to build a place (visible or invisible) where God is honored as we meet together and reach out to those who do not yet know Him as Savior and Lord.
  • I will join with others in the work of God as He directs. Specifically, I will join others by helping at a food pantry or soup kitchen.
  • I will give God my best time, effort, resources, and energy. Specifically, I will contribute time and money for myself or someone else to go on a mission trip.
