We Respond

Reflection.

Consider the following questions regarding Exodus 30-32

> 1. What does this chapter tell me about God?

> 2. What does this chapter tell me about the human beings He created?

Here is one possible answer to each of these questions. Ask the Holy Spirit if there are any others for you personally to ponder.

Exodus 30

    1. It is the presence of the LORD God Himself that makes people holy.

    2. People are to live according to the holiness God gives them.

Exodus 31

    1. God selects and equips specific people to carry out the tasks He has designed for them.

    2. People are to use their skills, abilities and talents to glorify God and to benefit other people.

Exodus 32

    1. God expects exclusive worship from the people He has released from bondage.

    2. People should demonstrate their loyalty to God by obeying His laws and regulations.

Prayer

> 3. How might I pray regarding Exodus 30-32?

O LORD God, it is by spending time in Your presence that we are made holy. However, we cannot come into Your presence unless we have acknowledged our sins and have been cleansed by the blood of Jesus, the sacrificial Lamb of God. After that we will be able live our daily lives according to the holiness You provide for us–in prayer, worship and service. Loving Father God, You select and equip specific people to carry out the tasks You have designed for them. Holy Spirit, help me to use my skills, abilities and talents to glorify God, to benefit other people and to expand Your kingdom. LORD, You expect exclusive worship from the people You have released from bondage. Don’t let us turn back. May increasing numbers of people demonstrate their loyalty to You by obeying Your laws and regulations. As we self-sacrificially love You and other people, we will bring You glory, LORD. AMEN

Action (Ask God, the Holy Spirit, if He wants you to work on one of the suggestions below or something else more personal that He points out.)

> 4. What action does the LORD want me to take in response to Exodus 30-32? With the help of God’s Holy Spirit:

  • I will look for ways I can pass on knowledge, skills and wisdom to the upcoming generations.
  • I will check to make sure that I am not using profanely or frivolously something God calls sacred.
  • I will set up a plan to personally and properly observe the Sabbath from sundown Fridays to sundown Saturdays.
  • I will be patient and wait on God to reveal His plans for me and ruthlessly avoid substituting my own plans for His.
