Prayer

> 3. How might I pray regarding Psalms 6, 8-10, 14, 16, 19, 21?

Thank You, LORD God, for being so approachable and understanding of my anguish and sorrow. When I am in deep emotional distress, I know that I can find comfort and assurance in You, LORD. You will deal with my enemies. God, You bend down and are mindful of and care for we frail human beings. You created humans to manage and care for the earth and every living or non-living thing on it. We didn’t just evolve. Throughout history You, LORD, have performed wonderful deeds, judged righteously, destroyed and rebuked the wicked. Awesome triune God, You will reign forever. The enemies of righteousness will be turned back, stubble and perish. LORD God, please lift up You hand on behalf of the helpless, oppressed and afflicted, calling the evil ones to account for their wickedness. The mouths of people who have no room for You in their thoughts are full of lies, threats, trouble and evil. LORD, You are continually examining mankind to see who is at least attempting to seek and understand You, Your will and Your ways. But You have found that everyone has turned away, all are corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one. You, Yourself are mankind’s only place of safety. We must turn to You for counsel and instruction. We have no excuse; You reveal Yourself through the physical creation and through Your written and spoken word. People need to meditate on Your words in their hearts, speak them out and do what is pleasing in Your sight. LORD, You promise to give strength, victory and  rewards to those You choose and who choose to serve, trust and honor You. Wicked people continue to plot evil and devise wicked schemes, but they will not succeed. You, God, will make them turn back. When all the people of the world see this, they will bring You glory, LORD. AMEN

Action (Ask God, the Holy Spirit, if He wants you to work on one of the suggestions below or something else more personal that He points out.)

> 4. What action does the LORD want me to take in response to Psalms 6, 8-10, 14, 16, 19, 21?

With the help of God’s Holy Spirit:

  • I will be honest with myself and God about my emotions (especially the negative ones) and praise Him for thinking about me and accepting my prayers.
  • I will thank God for the happiness, rest and security He has provided.
  • I will meditate on God’s word, speak it out and do what is pleasing in His sight.
  • I will praise God for the victory He has given me over my enemies.
