We Respond

Reflection

Consider the following questions regardin  2 Chronicles 1, Psalm 72

> 1. What does this chapter tell me about God?

> 2. What does this chapter tell me about the human beings He created?

Here is one possible answer to each of these questions. Ask the Holy Spirit if there are any others for you personally to ponder.

2 Chronicles 1

    1. God is ultimately the one who puts leaders in place over His people, wherever they are, whether they realize it or not.

    2. Like Solomon, people need to humble themselves before God and admit that they cannot properly perform their duties apart from Him.

    Psalm 72

    1. Justice, righteousness, prosperity and peace come from the LORD God alone.

    2. People should gratefully praise the LORD’s glorious name so that His glory fills the whole earth.

Prayer

> 3. How might I pray regarding 2 Chronicles 1, Psalm 72?

LORD God, You alone are ultimately the one who puts leaders in place over people, wherever they are, whether they realize it or not. Please put God-centered men and women in all places of leadership who will direct people to You and Your ways. Like Solomon, may we all humble ourselves before You and admit that we cannot properly perform our duties apart from You.  May we realize that justice, righteousness, prosperity and peace come from You, LORD God, alone. Then all people will gratefully praise Your glorious name until Your glory fills the whole earth, LORD. AMEN

Action (Ask God, the Holy Spirit, if He wants you to work on one of the suggestions below or something else more personal that He points out.)

> 4. What action does the LORD want me to take in response to 2 Chronicles 1, Psalm 72?

With the help of God’s Holy Spirit:

  • I will support a god-fearing person seeking public office with my time, my talents and my treasure.
  • I will speak up and share the wisdom of scripture with those in my sphere of influence.
  • I will seek to bring the LORD’s presence into my family, my community and my nation.
  • I will read Psalm 72 aloud and pray it on behalf of my community and nation.
