Reflection
Consider the following questions regarding 1 Kings 22 and 2 Chronicles 18
> 1. What does this chapter tell me about God?
> 2. What does this chapter tell me about the human beings He created?
Here is one possible answer to each of these questions. Ask the Holy Spirit if there are any others for you personally to ponder.
1 Kings 22 and 2 Chronicles 18 [Since 2 Chronicles 18 is nearly identical to 1 Kings 22, they will be addressed as a unit.
1. God’s will is accomplished even though people may think or act independently, deceptively or randomly.
2. People often do not want to hear what God has to say on a matter.
Prayer
> 3. How might I pray regarding 1 Kings 22 and 2 Chronicles 18?
Dear Sovereign LORD, since Your Will will always be accomplished, please show me my part and help me to do it. I renounce my own plans and purposes to obey Yours. You always know and do what is best. Please make me aware of how someone might be trying to use me to their advantage. Help me to get out of any such alliance or agreement. I need Your counsel, protection and provision in every area of my life. When I, my family and friends and my leaders, trust and obey You in everything, we will bring You glory, LORD. AMEN
Action
(Ask God, the Holy Spirit, if He wants you to work on one of the suggestions below or something else more personal that He points out.)
> 4. What action does the LORD want me to take in response to 1 Kings 22 and 2 Chronicles 18?
With the help of God’s Holy Spirit:
- I will seek the counsel of the LORD as Jehoshaphat suggested.
- I will think through with whom I form alliances.
- I will ask the Holy Spirit to make me aware of how someone might be trying to use me to their advantage.
- I will pray for the physical (and spiritual) protection of myself, my family and friends and my leaders.
