Visions of the Systematic Measuring of the Temple
Verse of the Day: [In “visions of God” Ezekiel was shown this measuring of the Temple.] The man said to me, “Son of man, look carefully and listen closely and pay attention to everything I am going to show you, for that is why you have been brought here. Tell the people of Israel everything you see.” [Quotes in the original.] (Ezekiel 40:4 NIV 2011)

We Respond
Reflection: Consider the following questions regarding Ezekiel 40-42:
1. What does this chapter tell me about God?
2. What does this chapter tell me about the human beings He created?
Here is one possible answer to each of these questions. Ask the Holy Spirit if there are any others for you personally to ponder.
Ezekiel 40-42 is like a detailed blueprint for the Temple (perhaps in the Millennial kingdom); therefore, these chapters will be taken as a unit.
1. The LORD God is a God of precision and detail. Everything He plans will be carried out just as He has prescribed.
2. The people of God need to look with our eyes and hear with our ears and pay attention to (set our hearts on) everything the LORD shows us so that we can tell all those who need to hear what the LORD God has to say.
Prayer:
3. How might I pray regarding Ezekiel 40-42?
O LORD God, You are the master architect and designer of the universe and everything in it. In Your time and in Your way, Your will, O LORD, will be accomplished. In Ezekiel 40-42, You lay out a detailed blueprint for the Temple. Is it the one used during the Millennial kingdom? You, LORD God, are a God of precision and detail. Everything You plan will be carried out just as You have prescribed. We, Your people, O God, need to look with our eyes and hear with our ears and pay attention to or set our hearts on everything You, LORD, show us so that we can tell all those who need to hear what You have to say. For it is only when we trust and obey You that we bring You glory, LORD. AMEN
Action: (Ask God, the Holy Spirit, if He wants you to work on one of the suggestions below or something else more personal that He points out.)
4. What action does the LORD want me to take in response to Ezekiel 40-42? With the help of God’s Holy Spirit:
- I will research when the Temple and its courtyards as described here was or will be built.
- I will thank God for the loving detail with which He creates or has things built, including my own life.
- I will designate a special place in my home for meeting with the LORD daily (Ezekiel 42:21-23).
- I will consider wearing special clothing as I meet privately with the LORD that I change before I interact with other people (Ezekiel 42:14).
