God Speaks

The LORD Reestablishes the Temple, Its Rules and Regulations

Verse of the Day: “‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says: You have gone far enough, princes of Israel! Give up your violence and oppression and do what is just and right. Stop dispossessing my people, declares the Sovereign LORD. . . .'”  (Ezekiel 45:9 NIV 2011)

We Respond

Reflection: Consider the following questions regarding Ezekiel 43-45:

1. What does this chapter tell me about God?

2. What does this chapter tell me about the human beings He created?

Here is one possible answer to each of these questions. Ask the Holy Spirit if there are any others for you personally to ponder.

Ezekiel 43

1. When and however He chooses, the LORD will reveal His glory to His people (and/or to all of mankind).

2. When people truly experience the glory of the LORD, they won’t be able to stand in His presence but will fall down in worship and go on to live purified lives with Him forever.

Ezekiel 44

1. God instructs His special servants, the priests, as to their duties and restrictions.

2. The people are to provide for the priests through the gifts and sacrifices they bring to the Temple.

Ezekiel 45

1. God is concerned about honest weights and measures as well as division of the land.

2. The leaders (princes) are to stop all these: violence and oppression, injustice and lawlessness, robbery and cheating, and mistreatment of the people they are called to serve.

Prayer:

3. How might I pray regarding Ezekiel 43-45?

I praise You, LORD God, that Jesus the Messiah will return to earth and reign for a thousand years. The Temple described in these last chapters in Ezekiel will be part of that Kingdom age. Jesus will exercise loving sovereignty over both the big and little issues of life. LORD, You will reveal Your glory to Your people (and/or to all of mankind). You will show us how to worship You and You alone in Spirit and in truth. You will put a stop to all violence and oppression, injustice and lawlessness, robbery and cheating, and mistreatment of people. You promise to grant every person who trusts and obeys You the privilege of truly experiencing Your glory, worshiping in Your presence, and living a purified life with You forever. I look forward to that time of bringing You great glory, LORD. AMEN

Listen to the prayer being read.

Action: (Ask God, the Holy Spirit, if He wants you to work on one of the suggestions below or something else more personal that He points out.)

4. What action does the LORD want me to take in response to Ezekiel 43-45? With the help of God’s Holy Spirit:

  • I will praise God that He exercises such loving sovereignty over both the big and little issues of my life.
  • I will ask the LORD to show me how He wants me to worship Him and Him alone.
  • I will do research and join a group that is honestly working (not just virtue-signaling or protesting) to stop violence and oppression, injustice and lawlessness, robbery and cheating, and leaders’ mistreatment of the people they are called to serve. (Example: 40 Days for Life prayer and counseling outside of abortion clinics)
  • I will humbly ask the LORD for the privilege of truly experiencing His glory, worshiping in His presence, and living a purified life with Him forever.
